New sustainable maritime fuels depend on innovative double-walled pipelines

by: SAMI J. ANTEROINEN
Sustainability is a major driver in the marine industry – starting with more sustainable fuels. Methanol, ammonia and hydrogen are among the fuels used to power a proud new generation of ships. The introduction of new fuels places demands on pipeline systems aboard ships, as well.

Uwira, an innovative Finnish pipeline manufacturer, delivers pipeline solutions to ships looking to deploy new fuels. Sales Director Samuli Kuusisto points out that Uwira has decades of experience in producing advanced pipeline solutions for the challenging maritime market.

“ We have great know-how from the field and continue to push new concepts for sustainable fuels,” he says.
“ Our customers worldwide depend on us to come up with industry-leading solutions that are both efficient and safe.”
Thomas Hägglund, Uwira’ s Director of Development, points out that developing ground-breaking concepts for new fuels requires a cutting-edge, even visionary, mindset.
“ Transition towards new, more sustainable fuels is a challenging process, but we definitely have a role to play in this evolution.”
